Did you know that the three Tesla magnetic field at the core of an MRI machine actually drops to one Tesla as you move away from its center? 

An MRI machine does not produce a uniform magnetic field throughout the room. Its strength is highest at the center and decreases with distance, much like the heat from a fire fades the farther you step away. For a three Tesla MRI, this drop is such that the field reaches one Tesla or less right at its immediate periphery.
