HTP-1500 Quick Guide Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Purpose

Keeping your HTP-1500 recirculating water pump in peak condition is one of the simplest ways to protect your investment and ensure consistent patient warming performance. This guide covers everything your clinic team needs: daily checks, a biweekly flush routine, annual descaling, and step-by-step fixes for the most common error codes – CHEC FLO, H1, and H2.

Compatible with Vetamac warming tables.

Important / Safety Notes

  • Always unplug the pump before service.
  • Use distilled water only.
  • Do not run the unit with a low water level. After cleaning, refill with at least 750 mL of distilled water. Ensure the water level is visible in the sight glass on the side of the pump and remains at a minimum of 50% capacity while the pump is operating.

Before Each Use

  1. Check the water level using the white level indicator on the side of the pump.
  2. Keep the reservoir at least half full to ensure proper operation.
  3. Inspect the tubing and connectors for kinks, cracks, or pinch damage caused by table movement.

Every 2 Weeks

  1. Make sure the pump is unplugged.
  2. Unscrew the black cap and empty the reservoir.
  3. Refill the reservoir with at least 750 mL of distilled water. Ensure the water level is visible in the sight glass on the side of the pump and remains at a minimum of 50% capacity while the pump is operating.

Annual Maintenance

  1. Empty the pump reservoir.
  2. Fill the reservoir with approximately 1 L of a 50/50 mixture of distilled water and white vinegar.
  3. Set the target temperature to 100°F (38°C).
  4. Turn the pump on and allow it to circulate for 15 minutes.
  5. Turn the pump off and empty the reservoir.
  6. Fill the reservoir with 1 L of clean water.
  7. Turn the pump on and allow it to circulate for another 15 minutes.
  8. Turn the pump off and empty the reservoir again.
  9. Pour in at least 750 mL of distilled water. Ensure the water level is visible in the sight glass on the side of the pump and remains at a minimum of 50% capacity while the pump is operating.
  10. The unit is ready to use.

Troubleshooting

ERROR: “CHEC FLO”

This error indicates low or restricted water flow.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

  • Water level is too low.
  • There are kinks in the tubing.
  • Internal buildup is restricting water circulation.

SUGGESTED SOLUTION

  1. Empty the pump reservoir and fill it with approximately 1 L of a 50/50 mixture of distilled water and white vinegar.
  2. Set the target temperature to 100°F (38°C).
  3. Turn the pump on.
  4. Pinch one clear tube once per second for 1 to 2 minutes to help dislodge sediment.
  5. Let the pump run for 30 minutes.
  6. Turn the pump off.
  7. Reverse the inlet and outlet connections to backflush the system.
  8. Turn the pump on and let it run for another 30 minutes.
  9. Turn the pump off and empty the reservoir.
  10. Fill the reservoir with 1 L of clean water.
  11. Turn the pump on and let it run for 15 minutes.
  12. Empty the reservoir and add at least 750 mL of distilled water.
  13. If the issue persists, contact service.

ERROR: “H1” AND “H2”

These error codes mean that the pump temperature has become too high.

H1: First safety limit. Heating is disabled, but water circulation continues.

H2: Second safety limit. Both heating and water circulation are disabled.

SUGGESTED SOLUTION

Turn off the pump and let it cool down for several hours before turning it back on. The alarm should reset automatically once the unit has cooled down while unpowered.
